Machu Picchu by Car Itinerary
CUSCO – HIDROELECTRICA – AGUAS CALIENTES
Our tour starts at 6:30 am, and we will pick you up at your hotel or otherwise at the agreed meeting point. Then we will board the bus and we will go to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, on the way you will see different towns and beautiful landscapes. Then we’ll have lunch at a local restaurant, then we will continue with our tour of Machu Picchu by car to the Hydroelectric where we will start our walk until we reach the town of Aguas Calientes; the walk lasts approximately 3 hours. You must do the walk alone, just follow the train line as the whole way is signposted, along the way you will find several tourists going the same route.
In Aguas Calientes our guide will take you to your respective accommodation and in the evening we will have dinner and the indications about the visit of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu for the next day.
You can visit the Hot Springs, it is not included in our tour.
AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO
At 5:10 am you must go to the bus station to board; the trip from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu will be 30 minutes. Then we will enter the sanctuary of Machu Picchu and have a guided tour for 2 hours and then you can visit Machu Picchu on your own and take pictures for the memory. At approximately 8:30 am you can board the bus down from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes.
Around 11:00 you will return walking to the town of Aguas Calientes and later to the Hydroelectric, once arrived at this point we will board the bus that will take us to the city of Cusco.
Important: You must be at the hydroelectric plant by approximately 1:45 pm, as the return car will be at 2:00 pm. If you arrive after the time you will lose the vehicle.
Machu Picchu by car, will finish around 22:00 hrs in Cusco.
NOTE
The round trip from Cusco to Hidroeléctrica has too many curves, making it a tiring journey. And during the rainy season, there’s often a lot of fog, which makes it dangerous. For this reason, travel insurance is strongly recommended.
