Entrance to Sacsayhuaman (Inca Fortress). Sacsayhuaman is one of the main tourist attractions in the city of Cusco and is located very close to the historic center. To enter the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman, you must purchase the Cusco Tourist Ticket, Circuit 1, which is also valid for visiting Qenqo, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay. The price of the partial Circuit 1 Tourist Ticket is 70 soles for foreigners and 40 soles for Peruvians. You can buy the ticket at the tourist attraction itself or, if you prefer, in the city of Cusco at Av. Sol 103, Cosituc.
Sacsayhuaman
At Sacsayhuaman, you can see the Inca throne, the towers (Muyuq Marka, Sallaq Marka, Paucarmarka), which are the remains of circular and square foundations that served for defense and observation, the sundial, the chincanas (intersections), and every June 24th, you can witness the celebration of Inti Raymi, the Festival of the Sun.
How to get there:
• Walking: If the walk starts from Cusco’s Plaza de Armas, it will take 20 to 30 minutes, depending on your fitness level. Many tourists choose this option because it’s close and allows them to explore Cusco’s streets along the way.
• By tour: This is one of the best options. You can choose a private or shared Cusco City Tour, and ideally, you can visit other tourist attractions such as Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay.
